Golden West on a Roll

The Golden West Football team improves to 6-1 on the season.  The Rustlers were able to overcome a 21-10 deficit in the second quarter to win their third straight Conference contest.

Despite getting on the scoreboard first with a 26 yard field goal by Peter Marquez, the Rustlers found themselves playing from behind just moments later as Grossmont put together a 9 play drive that took them 75 yards in just over 3 minutes putting the Griffins up 7-3.

Golden West had an answer of their own, as Robert Cruz capped off their own march down the field in a 6 play, 79 yard drive, with a 2 yard run that would put the Rustlers back on top 10-7.

The Griffins would end up scoring the next possession and then recover a fumble on the Golden West 6 yard line resulting in a Griffin touchdown expanding the lead to eleven, 21-10.

The Rustlers didn't skip a beat, James Ferraro intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a Golden West touchdown, and narrowing Grossmonts lead to just four, at 21-17.

Golden West would get the ball back with just :54 seconds left to go in the first half at the Grossmont 48 yard line.  Chirs d'Entremont and the Rustlers' offense took over the charge and marched down field in just 49 seconds to put the Rustlers up 24-21 heading into the locker room.

The second half went to the Rustlers as they put up 13 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter and improved to 6-1 on the season, and 2-1 in conference.
