Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day

Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day

Huntington Beach, Calif. - This Saturday's (9/30) football matchup between Long Beach City College Vikings and your Golden West Rustler's will kick off at 1pm.

This weekends game is also Faculty and Staff Appreciation day, so all Golden West College employees show your Employee ID and bring up to three (3) family or friends with you to get in the game FREE!!

Your Rustlers come into Saturday's contest with a 2-2 record after falling 36-23 last Saturday to Cerritos. The record on campus so far is 2-0 (3-0 all time) so a win would continue the trend and could help spark a winning streak heading into Southern League play.

Despite being on the wrong side of the scoreboard, the Rustlers' passing attack kept the game in reach. Joe Pyle rarely missed completing 74-percent of his passes and tossed 1 touchdown. When the fourth quarter came around, John Buksa was subbed in and he took advantage of his opportunity to play throwing two touchdown passes. Freshman wideout Xavier Smith was on the receiving end of Buksa's scoring passes, which compliment his breakout performance two weeks ago, adding to a stellar start to the season.

Long Beach City, is also coming off a loss last week. Even though the Vikings' record is 2-2, they have proved to be a tough challenger. This is due to scoring at last 35 points in each game this season. Long Beaches dominant passing attack is at the forefront led by former Edison High standout quarterback Grant Lowry. He has put defenses to sleep passing for 1,370 yards and 12 touchdowns in four games this season.
