Football: Rustlers Finish #7 in SoCal with 10 All-Conference Selections

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West football team finished the 2018 campaign ranked 7th in Southern California with a 6-5 overall and 3-2 in the National Southern League division.

It has been announced that ten Rustlers have received All-Conference selections led by All-State freshman defensive tackle, V.J. Malo.

Malo a defensive wrecking ball, was a force for any offensive lineman that tried to block him. He led the team with four sacks and 13 tackles for a loss. He finished the season fifth on the team in overall tackles with 41, recorded an interception, and forced three fumbles. 

First team selections include linebacker David Aldapa, offensive lineman Spencer Blake, and wide receiver Ben Ratzlaff.

The sophomore linebacker Aldapa, led the Rustlers with 61 tackles, 5.5 for a loss and one sack. He was the leader of the defense on and off the field. The freshman O-lineman Blake, was integral to protecting the quarterback and leading the injury riddled offensive line through many personnel changes. Sophomore star wide receiver Ratzlaff, led the receiver corps with 648 total yards, averaging 72 yards per game, and scored six touchdowns.

Second team honorees are sophomore defensive tackle Myron Aiava, sophomore outside linebacker Justin Parker, sophomore cornerback Justin Ford, freshman safety Austin Kramer, sophomore safety Ryan Rains, and sophomore quarterback Beau Kalbacher.
