Football: Rustlers Dominate Home Opener Over the Gades

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West dominates Bakersfield in their season opener with a final score of 48-23. Golden West took an early lead and maintained control throughout the afternoon.

The first quarter started with a touchdown by the Rustler's, with a 5-yard run scoop and score by Kentrelle Omar. This was followed by a successful kick by Jad Othman, giving Golden West a 7-0 lead. Later in the quarter, Othman kicked a 24-yard field goal, extending the Rustler's lead to 10-0. With just over five minutes remaining in the quarter, Braden Siri of Golden West made a 15-yard pass to Caleb Dochnal for a touchdown, and Othman's kick was successful, bringing the score to 17-0 in favor of Golden West.

In the second quarter, Golden West continued to dominate the game. Luther Richesson scored a 1-yard run touchdown, and Othman's kick was good, increasing Golden West's lead to 24-0. Parker Awad then made a 23-yard pass to Tru Tanner for a touchdown, with Dillon Michel's kick successful, bringing the score to 31-0. Bakersfield finally got on the scoreboard with an 8-yard pass from Carson Woods to Mekhi Smith, and Bradyn Ornelaz's kick was good, making the score 31-7 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Golden West extended their lead even further. Kentrelle Omar intercepted a pass and returned it for a 29-yard touchdown, with Othman's kick successful, bringing the score to 38-7. In the fourth quarter, Bakersfield managed to score a field goal with a 33-yard kick by Ornelaz, bringing the score to 38-10. However, Golden West quickly responded with a 2-yard pass from Luther Richesson to Jake Troxell for a touchdown, and Michel's kick was good, making the score 45-10. Golden West added to their lead with a 20-yard field goal by Othman, bringing the score to 48-10. Bakersfield managed to score two late touchdowns, with Joseph Campbell making a 64-yard pass to Xavier Marshall and a 16-yard pass to Marshall again. Ornelaz's kick was successful on the second touchdown, bringing the final score to 48-23 in favor of Golden West.
