Marquis Brown Earns Defensive Player of the Week by SCFA

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West football Marquis Brown is awarded Defensive Player of the Week by Southern California Football Association.

For week seven, Brown earned a spot in the SCFA players of the week list. The free safety sophomore came up with huge defensive plays in the Rustlers blowout win over the Pirates. Golden West and Orange Coast met for the annual Battle of the Bell matchup in which the Rustlers won their seventh straight game over their rival, 58-9.

In the matchup, Brown totaled three interceptions throughout the four quarters. One of which, he took the entire distance of the field to score for a 100-yard pick six. Brown also broke up a pass and recorded a tackle. The 6 '4 free safety caused chaos for the Pirates offense that was held to one touchdown late in the game and turned the ball over four times. Brown continues to be a key factor in the Rustlers 3-0 conference start and is recognized by the SCFA player of the week list for his week seven efforts.

NEXT UP: The Rustlers will travel to San Bernardino Valley to take on the Wolverins for a conference matchup on Saturday, October 21st. Kickoff will be at 1pm.
