Golden West to host El Camino in 2023 Beach Bowl

The 2023 Golden West College football season will continue for one final game. On Tuesday, the Rustlers were selected by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) to host El Camino College in the Beach Bowl.

The postseason contest is scheduled for Monday, November 20 at the GWC Football Field in Huntington Beach. Kick off is set for 12:30 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase in advance at the Golden West College Tickets page. Cash will not be accepted for payment at the gate.

Ticket prices are as follows:
General Admission - $12
Seniors 60+ - $8
Children 6-12 - $8
All other students - $8

The game will be broadcast live online by SoCalCollegeSports on YouTube. Live play-by-play stats will also be available online at the GWC Athletics website.

Golden West is 8-2 overall and finished second in the National Central League at 6-1. The Rustlers couldn't pull off an upset of undefeated Mt. SAC in their regular-season finale and just missed earning a spot in the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

El Camino enters the contest with a 6-4 overall record and tied for fourth place in the National Northern League with a 4-3 mark. The Warriors have lost two straight and are coming off a 55-45 loss at Allan Hancock College to close out its regular season.

Golden West and El Camino are meeting for the first time since the 2011 season. In a Week 3 non-conference game, the Warriors rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Rustlers 24-21 at LeBard Stadium. GWC quarterback Raymond Huizar completed 15 of 20 passes for 211 yards and a pair of TDs.

Golden West will be making its third straight postseason appearance. Last year, the Rustlers hosted East Los Angeles College in the Patriotic Bowl and came away with a 32-14 win. In 2021, Golden West qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs and reached the SCFA Championship game.
