Norwalk, Calif. - Golden West competed against area community colleges and several four-year universities March 1st and 2nd at the 2013 Beach Classic, hosted by Cerritos College.  The Rustlers maintained a steady pace throughout the events, and were able to finish in the top 12 in 4 events. 

In the 3000m Steeplechase, Chase Calkins kept his feet dry enough to finish 5th in heat and 5th overall with a time of 11:29. Sophomore Leo Olvera finished 2nd in his heat, and 7th overall in the 400m dash with a time of 50.08. Teammate Christian Potter finished the 100m hurdles in 16.90 putting him at 3rd in his heat and 12th overall. in the discus throw, Casey Peraza threw an impressive 40.86m placing him 2nd in his heat and  11th in the meet.

NEXT: The men will participate in the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton on March 8th
