Aliso Viejo, Calif. - Golden West's Track and Field teams traveled to Soak University for their season opener at the Soka University Indoor Qualifier last Saturday.
Sophmore Lorenzo Mendoza opened the season with a first place finish in the shot put. His throw of 42'7" was just shy of his lifetime best. The Rustlers also won the men's pole vault with freshmen Jorge Zapien jumping and impressive 13'11".
Next, the teams will travel to Riverside for their first Orange Empire Conference meet, where they will compete with Santa Ana and host RCC.
