Rustlers Cruise to Sweep of Hawks

Huntington Beach, CA ‑ The Golden West College men's volleyball team made efficient work of visiting Santiago Canyon College on Friday.

The Rustlers cruised to a three-set sweep to earn their first Orange Empire Conference victory of the season and end a four-match losing streak.

Golden West (8-5), currently ranked eighth in the state in the most recent California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll, won, 25-20, 25-13, 25-11. Sophomore Kysen Olsen had a team-high 14 kills with two blocks and a dig and sophomore Arturo Alday added eight kills to lead the Rustlers.

Sophomore Trevor Robison had a team-high nine digs and two assists, freshman Reid Harrison (Long Beach Poly High) had team-high 18 assists with two digs, freshman Shilo Chow (Foothill High/Nevada) tallied eight assists and sophomore Antoine Roy contributed a team-high four blocks.

Golden West returns home to host Fullerton College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5.
