M Volleyball: Tough Loss at Home to the Raiders

Huntington Beach, CA  ‑ The Golden West men's volleyball team had a lost lead turn into a lost match Wednesday.

The Rustlers, ranked No. 9 in the California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll, lost a 13-4 lead in the third set and eventually the set before falling to visiting No. 10 Moorpark in four sets.

Sophomore Joshua Kim was the lone Golden West player to tally double-digit kills (19) in the 25-22, 17-25, 23-25, 23-25 loss. Kim added 19 digs and two service aces to his scoring line.

Sophomore Constan Tolentino tallied nine kills and 12 digs and freshman Enzo Boggio (Schurr High) had two kills, six digs and a team-high 38 assists. Freshman Luke Davis (Fountain Valley High) had eight kills and a block and freshman Tomas Beralas added five kills and three digs.

The loss drops the Rustlers (5-5) to .500 on the season and extends their losing streak to two matches.

Golden West opens Orange Empire Conference play Friday, March 9 as the Rustlers host rival Orange Coast College – ranked No. 2 in the state -  at 6 p.m.
