M Volleyball: Go Down in Five on Sophomore Night

Huntington Beach, CA  ‑ The Golden West College men's volleyball team valiant effort to upset Irvine Valley College in the Rustlers final home match of the season fell just short.

On a night where four out-going sophomores were recognized, Golden West dropped a tough five-set match to Irvine Valley, ranked No. 4 in the most recent California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association State Poll, in an Orange Empire Conference match.  

Sophomores Josh Kim, Kevin Lujan, Jacob Kemp and Constan Tolentino were honored before the match. Kim had a team-high 23 kills, with eight digs and a block, Lujan tallied six kills and a dig, Kemp had three kills and a dig and Tolentino had seven kills, and nine digs in the 16-25-, 25-21, 26-24, 11-25, 11-15 loss.

Freshman Enzo Boggio (Schurr High) had seven kills and led the Rustlers with teams-highs in assists (31) and digs (14). Freshman Jason Carrol had 15 assists and freshmen Adrian Flores had nine digs.

Golden West (6-11, 1-6) ends its season at Santiago Canyon College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11.
