M Volleyball: Rustlers Battle in Loss to the Vaqueros

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West men's volleyball team fell in four sets to Santa Barbara City College 25-19, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16 Wednesday night.

The Rustlers (2-2) fought hard against a much bigger Vaqueros (3-1) squad who recorded 14 blocks on night. Golden West dropped the first set but then rebounded in the second set to even the match at 1-1. Freshman outside hitter, Conner Ludlum led the team hitting .261 with seven kills and five digs to keep the sets close. Matthew Coleman the Rustlers other big outside hitter recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs on the night.

Freshman setter Brandon Pank played his part really well as he recorded 26 assists to along with his six digs. Unfortunately the height of the Vaqueros, which averaged 6'6", was too much to overcome in the third and fourth sets as the Rustlers would lose consecutive sets and drop the match 3-1.

The Rustlers are back in action Friday, February 15th as they host San Diego Miramar with a 6pm start.
