Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West men's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep of the San Diego Miramar College Jets 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 on Friday night.
The Rustlers (3-2) came out strong against the Jets (1-3) in the opening set as they were able to take some early momentum and ride it to a 1-0 lead. Right side hitter, Miguel Flores Jr led the team in kill percentage, hitting .389, 7 for 18 on the night.
The momentum from the first set carried into set number two as the Rustlers built a 23-12 lead before SD Miramar tallied out a short run before falling 25-19 to go down 2-0. Setter, Brandon Pank continued to put the attackers in good striking position as he recorded 26 assists to lead Golden West.
The third set was a little more competitive as the Jets played well but ultimately succombed to the Rustlers 25-20 in the three set sweep. Libero, Tomas Beralas led the Rustlers with 11 digs and outside hitter, Matthew Coleman led the Rustlers with 10 kills.
