W Basketball: Bivens Shatters Program Record in Comeback Win for the Rustlers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West College women's basketball team overcame a slow start against Chaffey College Monday night before rallying from a 21-point deficit in the first half to win 80-69.

The Rustlers found themselves down 23-11 at the end of the first quarter but they bounced back in the second quarter to close the gap to five points, 40-35 at halftime. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that Golden West hit their stride and pulled away from the Panthers out scoring them 27-10 in the final quarter.

Sheridan Bivens, a shooting guard for the Rustlers had a career night scoring 36 points and broke a program record in the win. Bivens made a program-record 12 three-pointers in the game, breaking the previous record of eight from the 2002 season.

Golden West is back in action on Friday, February 10 at home as they take conference leader and inter district rival Orange Coast College at 5pm.
