Golden West Sprint Meet ends with a few broken records for the Rustlers

The second swim meet of the season started with overcast skies and high hopes, and ended with the sun shining and a few swim meet records broken by the Golden West women's swim team. Sophomore Jade Morton led the day of record breaking with a 5:16.57 on the 500-yard freestyle, beating out teammate Sophomore Mikaela Jensen who came in at a time of 5:30.52. Morton also took third in the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:21.06.  Not to be outshined by Morton, Sophomore Gabriela Cabrera was a 3-event winner in the 50-yard fly, 100 yard IM, and broke a meet record in the 100 yard fly with a time of 1:00.81.

Other notable swims, Freshman Samantha Carpenter placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.40. Narrowly beating Sophomore Taylor Morton, Taylor in turn won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 33.32 ironically beating out Carpenter.

Golden West travels to Saddleback College on March 2nd for a double dual meet matchup against Saddleback and Fullerton.  Meet starts at 2:00pm.
