Women's Swimming Sweeps Finals Meet

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West's Women's swimming team racked up an impressive 927 points at the finals meet, hosted in the Rustler's water. The ladies are looking to ride this winning tide all the way to the Orange Empire Conference Championships, at Golden West April 18th-20th.  

Starting the afternoon strong, the ladies took first place in the 200 yard Medley Relay with a finishing total time of 1:52.35. Swimming in the event was Lauren Vosseler, Melissa Bergesen, Zeineb Kafallah and Brooke Roy. The women then worked together again to win the 400 Medley Relay (4:09.14),  the 200 yard Free Relay (1:40.66) and the 800 yard Free Relay (8:08.65).

Bergesen then went on to take the top spot in the 200 yard Ind. Medley (2:16.24) and the 100 yard Breaststroke (1:09.92).

In the 200 yard freestyle, Kafallah touched first in 1:57.69, and shortly after teammate Vosseler finished first in the 100 yard Backstroke with a time of 1:03.37).

Rustlers took the top 4 spots in the 50 yard Freestyle with Vosseler in 1st (24.86) Kalfallah in 2nd (25.01) Bergesen took 3rd (25.54) and Margaret Dix finished 4th (25.78).  Kalfallah (54.27), Vosseler (54.42) and Dix (56.71) took 1st-3rd in the 100 yard Free. 

Next the women will swim their way to the Orange Empire Conference Championships where they hope to be crowned the queens of the conference.
