Women's Swimming Starts Strong

Riverside, Calif. - Golden West traveled to Riverside for the 2014 season's first Orange Empire Conference meet. The defending Women's CCCAA state champions Rustlers lead the pack against hosts Riverside, as well as visiting Cypress and Santa Ana.

The Rustlers took first place in the first meet event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Lia Jorgensen, Melissa Bergesen, Brigitta Games and Lauren Vosseler finished in an impressive 1:51.50

Bergesen next touched first in the 200 Yard IM, her time was 2:11.67, dominating her competition in the water. The sophomore also took first place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke event and 50 Yard Breaststroke (31.69) 

Vosseler took the top time in 3 individual events for the day: 50 Yard Freestyle (24.49), the 100 Yard Freestyle (52.17) and the 50 Yard Backstroke (28.67)

Jorgensen, a Rustler freshman completed the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:02.10 for first, along with the100 Yard IM (1:03.30) and the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:21.53). 

Games took home first in both the 50 Yard Butterfly (27.94) and the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:01.11).
