Women's Swimming Starts Strong

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The 2014-15 Golden West Women's Swim team started the season strong, taking first place in ten events against Riverside, Cypress and Santa Ana in their first OEC meet. 

Your Rustlers started strong in the 200 yard medley relay taking first place with Oliva Romo, Tori Cree, Madison Varisco and Melissa Thorn finishing in 1:57.22.

The women of the medley relay went on to take first in individual events as well, with Varisco taking first in the 100 yard (54.14) and 200 yard free style (1:58.16) and the 100 yard butterfly (59.70). Cree finished the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:16.04 for her individual first place finish. 

Swimming the 200 yard IM, Christina Burton finished in the top stop with a time of 2:33.75. 

Rustler Suzanna Gonzales swam away with first place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:23.18) and finished in second place in the 50 yard free (26.68), the 100 yard free (56.45).

Olivia Romo touched first in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:21.35 and in 1:02.96 in the 100 yard backstroke event.  

The women finished their winning ways with completing the 200 yard freestyle relay in1:47.45 with Gonzales, Candice Vorbeck, Angelyse Sanchez and Thorn on the final relay team.
