The Golden West College women's volleyball team defeated Santa Ana Dons in three straight games in an Orange Empire Conference match. The Rustlers eliminated Santa Ana by scores of 25-13, 25-6 and 25-18.
The Dons opened the match with the first point of the game with Golden West (8-3, 3-0) answering with three-straight points. Marissa Kohler answered with a kill to pull the Dons within one at 3-2.
The Rustlers started to pull away from there, outscoring the Dons 11-4 to establish a 14-6 lead. Golden West then closed out game one on an 11-7 run to take the game 25-13.
Golden West controlled the second game jumping out to a 16-0 lead before Santa Ana was able to get on the board. The Rustlers went on to win the game 25-6 while taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
After jumping ahead 11-7 in the third game, the Dons bounced back with five-straight points to take a 12-11 lead. But it wasn't enough as Golden West went on an 8-0 run to take control of the game at 21-13.
The Dons proved to have another run in them, cutting the Rustlers lead to 23-18. However, Golden West would score the final two points to take the game, and the match, by a final score of 25-18.
