Golden West Sweeps Fullerton for Second Consecutive OEC Victory

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's volleyball (6-1, 2-0 OEC) traveled to Fullerton College (1-10, 0-2 OEC) to collect their second conference win, 3-0. 

The Rustlers appeared in their first road Orange Empire Conference matchup against the Hornets on Wednesday, September 20th. Coming off of their hard fought win over Irvine Valley, Golden West looked to remain undefeated in conference matches. Fullerton College made it tough for the visiting Rustlers in the first set as Golden West snuck by the Hornets with a 25-22 set win. The second set was more of the same as the Rustlers were pushed to the limit and had to take a two-point advantage on Fullerton. 

Golden West managed to win the hard fought second set, 26-24. In the third in the final set, the Rustlers walked away with a 25-13 set victory and their first conference sweep, 3-0. Sabrina Phinizy accumulated a match leading 12 kills, as she also had 14 digs and one service ace. Hayden Murray assisted her teammates 29 times while also collecting 13 digs and three kills. Peyton McBride was second in kills with 11, an assist and three digs.
