Golden West Bounces Back with Sweep Victory Over Santa Ana

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's volleyball (8-5, 4-4 OEC) topped the Santa Ana Dons (4-11, 2-6 OEC) in a set sweep Friday night, 25-13, 25-12, 25-13.

Golden West found themselves back home after two road losses against Riverside and Saddleback. The Rustlers regained their footing as they managed to convincingly defeat the Dons, 3-0. The home team was in control of the entire matchup as they won the first set, 25-13. 

It was much of the same for the second and third set as Golden West would finish the sweep 25-12 and 25-13. Sabrina Phinizy led the team in kills with 14, had an assist and nine digs. Hayden Murray fulfilled her role as a setter with 28 assists, one service ace and nine digs. Freshman Peyton McBride led the team in service aces with five and also had the most digs with 13. 

NEXT UP: Golden West will travel to Irvine Valley to take on the Lasers on Wednesday, October 18th. The match will begin at 6pm.
