Golden West Dominates Santiago Canyon for Tenth Victory

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's volleyball (10-7, 6-6 OEC) hosted and swept the Santiago Canyon Hawks (1-13, 1-11 OEC), 25-11, 25-9, 25-10.

Golden West welcomed the Hawks on Friday night for a conference matchup. Santiago Canyon held their own early in the first set, but could not keep up with the high power Rustler offense. The home team won the opening set in a dominant fashion, 25-11. 

The Rustlers went on a run to start the second set as they scored nine unanswered points. Net play allowed Golden West to take back control after a Hawk score. The Rustlers would win their second set and hold Santiago Canyon below double-digits, 25-9. 

Similar to the second set, the home team went on a run with 13 unanswered points in the third. The Hawks would attempt a comeback, but the Rustlers early large lead would hold. Golden West won the third and final set to finish the sweep, 25-10. Golden West earned their tenth overall win, eighth set sweep and is 6-6 in conference play.

NEXT UP: Golden West will travel to Cypress College for their next matchup on Wednesday, November 1st. The match will begin at 6pm.
