El Cajon, CA - Saturday marked the first two rounds of the single elimination 32-team bracket for the 2016 CCCAA Beach Volleyball Pairing State Championship, hosted at Grossmont College. 19 different schools had at least one pair represented to begin the day with the final eight consisting of six different schools.

Heading into the first round 7 different schools had multiple pairings with a shot at the title. Once the field was cut to 16 however, only 4 schools had two teams left  With Team Championship runner-up, Irvine Valley College, still having all 3 of their pairs. The biggest upset came in the 6-27 matchup as MiraCosta's pairing of Kirklen/Henderson defeated El Camino's Brydon/Russell. 

The Round of 16 started out with a bang as top seed Shimamoto/Williams from El Camino were defeated by 17 seed Hughes/Holmes from Feather River College. Five of the top eight seeds still remain with the 17, 21 and 27 seeds looking to spoil the favorites chances. Both Irvine Valley and MiraCosta have two teams remaining with each team set to face each other in the round of eight.
