Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College beach volleyball team needed to win both matches to earn a trip to the state tournament this weekend in Northern California. 

They began the morning winning their first three pairs matchups to win the best of three against Antelope Valley College. 

No. 1 Pairs - Gonzalez/Stanjevich (GWC) def. Frederick/Pullum (AVC) 21-13, 21-8

No. 2 Pairs - Uale/Fujikura (GWC) DNF. Bradford/Avendano (AVC) 21-9, 15-7

No. 3 Pairs - Atsaros/Cantley (GWC) def. Medovitch/Montalvo (AVC) 21-5, 21-10

No. 4 Pairs - Graham/Sosa (GWC) def. Anthony/Vergara (AVC) 21-5, 21-6

No. 5 Pairs - Ureno/Martinez (GWC) DNP. Jackson/Jimenez (AVC)

The final match of the day was to determine who would go North and who would stay home between Golden West College and Grossmont College. Grossmont emerged victorious winning their first three matches to win the best of three match. 

No. 1 Pairs - Arthur/Schaeffer (GC) def. Gonzalez/Stanjevich (GWC)  22-20, 20-22, 18-16

No. 2 Pairs -  Powell/Tam (GC) DNF. Uale/Fujikura (GWC) 16-21, 21-12, 10-10

No. 3 Pairs - Wilson/Marshall (GC) def. Atsaros/Cantley (GWC) 21-16, 21-15

No. 4 Pairs - Barrameda/Jordan (GC) def. Graham/Sosa (GWC) 21-19, 21-15

No. 5 Pairs - Ureno/Martinez (GWC) DNP.
