Golden West Takes Four Sets from Riverside

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women's beach volleyball (8-8, 6-4 OEC) took all but one set from the Riverside Tigers  (7-14, 6-4 OEC), 4-1.   

The first duo for the Rustlers set the tone for the matchup against Riverside as Peyton McBride and Mackenzie Dorney won their first showing 21-15. Their second set was even more successful as they dominated in a 21-8 victory to take the first game, 1-0. Riverside responded with two close sets in the second duo faceoff as the Tigers won 24-22 and 21-18, 1-1. 

Golden West answered back in a three set third duo game. Maci Hendry and Ashlynd Larson took Riverside to three sets and won it in the final set, 15-5, 2-1. Adriana Morales and Elyse Varipapa won the fourth game in two sets with a score of 21-13 and 21-18, 3-1. Shea Carroll and Keeley Larson finished off the afternoon with a three set victory 15-9, 4-1. The Rustlers won their sixth conference victory and eighth overall. 

NEXT UP: Golden West's next matchup will be at home on Friday, April 12th. They will host Santiago Canyon at 10am and Irvine Valley at 12pm.
