Rodriguez Hits Walk-Off Solo Homerun in 7-6 Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West(7-4) baseball team had to come back from a 6-2 deficit after the fifth inning to set-up Chris Rodriguez's (4 for 4, 3 run scored, 1 RBI) bottom of the ninth walk-off solo homerun to beat Mt. San Jacinto(3-9) 7-6.

The rustlers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a leadoff homerun by Nick Tingrindes (1 for 3, 2 RBI, 1 run scored) to give them the lead 1-0. Mt. San Jacinto would come right back a score a run in the top of the third inning to even the score 1-1. Not to be out done, Zakk Morgan (2 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 run scored) would single home Rodriguez to take back the lead 2-1 after three innings.

Following a scoreless fourth inning, Mt. San Jacinto erupted for five runs in the fifth inning on two singles, two walks, one hit by pitch, and two errors. The rustlers wouldn't respond till the bottom of the seventh inning has they were able to tie the game by scoring four runs on two hits and a key wild pitch. Louie Conjura and Rodriguez walked to reach base with one out, Morgan would hit a sharp single that loaded the bases for a Tingrides sac-fly to centerfield to score Conjura from third. Junior Aguliar (1 for 4, 1 run scored, 2 RBI) would come through in the clutch and smack a two RBI triple to the right center field fence to cut the lead to 6-5. Aguilar would then score on wild pitch to tie the game at 6-6 through seven innings.

A quiet eigth inning and top of the ninth lead to the fireworks in the bottom of the ninth as Rodriguez led-off with the walk-off home run to deep left center field.
