One Big Inning Downs the Rustlers

One Big Inning Downs the Rustlers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West (15-13, 7-6) baseball team lost to the Riverside City College Tigers(22-8, 10-3) Tuesday afternoon 6-2.

It came down to one big inning for the Tigers to grab the lead and never look back. The Rustlers ace Taylor Franzman was throwing well through the first four innings until Riverside timed him up in the fifth inning. Franzman had only surrendered three hits heading into the fifth inning when the tigers would tag him for four runs on five hits to take a 4-0 lead.

The Rustlers would respond in the bottom half of the frame as Nick Tingrides and Jeremiah Vison would lead off with back to back singles. After a sacrifice bunt by Chris Rodriguez, Riversides pitcher would balk to score Tingrides from third and advance Vison from second base to third. Louie Canjura who had a big day at the plate going 4 for 5 would smack a triple to left center field easily scoring Vison to cut the Riverside to 4-2.

Unfortunately thats all the runs the Rustlers would score as they failed to score when they loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth down 6-2.

NEXT: Golden West will travel to Riverside on Thursday for game two of the three game series for a 2pm start.
