Offense Couldn't Muster Comeback as Season Comes to an End

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Golden West College baseball team tried to used home field advantage in the CCCAA Southern Regional playoff play-in game to advance to this weekends best of three series but came up short late to fall 4-3.

Golden West (19-22) and Southwestern (26-15) took advantage in the second inning offensively to score. Southwestern got on the board scoring two runs on three hits and taking advantage of an error by the Rustler right fielder. The Ruslters answered right back to take the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the second thanks to Nick Tingrides smashing a one out three RBI triple over the centerfielders head.

Unfortunately Golden West couldn't muster much of an offensive attack after the second inning as they would scatter four hits over the final seven innings. Southwestern was able to score two runs in the top of the eigthth to give them the lead and victory 4-3.

Golden West ends their season with an overall record of 19-22 and an Orange Empire Conference record of 9-12.
