Baseball: Kordic's Perfect Day at the Plate Propels Rustlers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Rustler Baseball took down LA Mission with an 8-3 victory while debuting their new green pinstripes Thursday at Hoover Field.

Dylan Kordic went 5-for-5 in the box to lead the Rustlers in hitting. His two base hits and three doubles brought in three of the eight runs scored.

Ayden Garcia followed in his footsteps, knocking in three runs on four hits. Garcia accounted for two of the runs and was left on base twice.

Matthew Olivares found his stride in today's matchup with two hits. His .500 batting average allowed him to get on base and show off his base running skills to capitalize two more runs for the Rustlers.

Nathan Beckley and Preston Allen both went 1-for-4 with an RBI each.

Johnnie Valdez Jr. made another successful start for the Rustlers, lasting six and one-thirds innings. Before exiting the game, he gave up eight hits, one earned run, two walks and eight punch outs.

The bullpen continued on an impressive run with Alex Ramos and Jack Smith. Ramos completed the remainder of the sixth inning for Valdez Jr. and pitched through the eighth. He allowed a single hit without any damage.

Smith entered in the ninth, earning a run off two hits before ending the game on a fielder's choice turned over to second base from shortstop.

Although the Rustlers out-hit LA Mission, they made four defensive errors on the diamond that scored a run.

Golden West will play on the road at Citrus College for their last non-conference of the season Saturday at 1 p.m.
