Gauchos Gallop Past Rustlers

Gauchos Gallop Past Rustlers

Golden West tried to ride the tide of last week's victory to finish the season with a win against Saddleback, but the Gauchos could not be stopped, marching to a 48-10 victory.

After news spread of Santa Ana losing their game earlier in the day, the fire was lit underneath Saddleback to finish as the National Division Southern Conference champions.

The Gauchos got on the scoreboard first with a 10-yard pass for the first touchdown of the game. The Rustlers responded when they got the ball and Hector Solis completed a 27-yard field goal. In the second quarter, Saddleback scored three more times to finish the half 28-3.

The Rustlers took the field after half time with one last push to score. Joshua Frost ran the ball 16-yards to score for Golden West. But it was the Gauchos night, as they scored three more touchdowns in the second half.

The Rustlers finish their 2012 conference season with a (3-7) overall record and (1-5) in conference play.
