It was a tail of two halves as Fullerton scored 23 unanswered points in the second half topping Golden West 23-17 at Yorba Linda High.

Golden West (3-1) looked like it was in full control of this game scoring first on a Peter Marquez 26-yard field goal in the first quarter.

The second quarter was more of the same as quarterback Chris d'Entremont connected with Kyrel Brown for a 45-yard touchdown to increase the lead to 10-0. Fullerton's (4-0) offense was playing on its heels as the Hornets coughed up the ball twice to the Rustlers in the first half. The Hornets' defense helped the Golden West offense by committing a slew of costly penalties.

Golden West came out in the second half ready to go as d'Entremont connected with Robert Cruz for his second touchdown pass of the game.

After that score, Fullerton turned the game completely around and scored its 23 unanswered points thanks to the leadership of quarterback Jose Escobar. Escobar was initially ruled out with a rotator cuff injury, but entered the game late in the second quarter.

A 7-yard pass from Escobar to Andrew Main started Fullerton's scoring streak. The Hornets elected to go for two and succeeded with a rush by Dustin Stolarski. Both of the next two scores were runs, a 66-yard score by Lavorrie Johnson and a 7-yard score by Ryan Byrd. Fullerton elected to go for two on Byrd's score and succeeded as Escobar completed a pass to Ryan Longoria.

Golden West's second half performance mirrored Fullerton's first half. Offensive fumbles and defensive penalties haunted the Rustlers during Fullerton's scoring streak.
