Football: Rolls Past Grossmont in Season Finale

Huntington Beach, Calif. – In a must win to stay bowl eligible, the Golden West College football squad handled their business as they rolled to a 33-7 victory over Grossmont College.

The Rustlers offense recorded 103 rushing yards and 271 passing yards to finish the season with a 5-5 overall record and a 3-2 record in National Southern division league play. Quarterback, Nathaniel Espinoza had an accurate day passing the ball as he completed 18 of his 25 attempts for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Wide out Trevor Hobbs accumulated the most yard from Espinoza as he hauled in three balls for 72 yards. David Atencio and KC Carr hauled in the two passing touchdowns on the afternoon.

Running back Devon Jackson rumbled his way to a season high, two rushing touchdowns on 12 carries for 69 yards.

The Rustler defense didn't disappoint in the final regular season game as they sacked the Grossmont quarterbacks seven times and intercepted three of their passes. Corner Sean Branch led the defense with two sacks and seven total tackles while linebacker Selu Cook totaled four tackles and 1.5 sacks.
