Football: Captures the 2022 Patriotic Bowl, Pete Runs For 2 TD’s

Huntington Beach, Calif. – The Golden West College Football program ends the 2022 season with a victory over the visiting East Los Angeles College Huskies 32-14 Saturday afternoon.

The Rustler defense held the Huskies to 128 yards of total offense with one safety and adding two more interceptions to their state leading count of 24 by defensive backs Akili Hubbard and Arick McLawyer. Darren Vasquez was named the Rustlers player of the game as he was in the Huskies backfield all afternoon with two sacks and three tackles for loss.

Offensively Ja'Sean Pete had his best game of the season running for 112 yards on 15 carries and finding the endzone twice. The Patriotic Bowl most valuable player, quarterback Ui Ale threw for one touchdown on 13 of 26 throwing for 98 yards but also rushed for one touchdown and ran for 54 yards.

Golden West wraps up the 2022 season 9-2 overall and 4-1 in National Southern League play.
