M Basketball: Second Half Come Back Falls Short for Rustlers

Huntington Beach, Calif. - It was a tale of two halves for the Rustlers as their slow start in the first half proved to be too much to overcome as the offense exploded in the second half in their loss Tuesday night, 90-88.

Golden West was down 46-29 at halftime when head coach Tony Jimmerson made the right adjustments to get the offense to explode for 59 points in the second half. Kameron Small led the second half charge when he scored 14 of his 20 points in the comeback bid and Ricky Briseno scored 12 second half points as well.

The Rustlers were trailing 80-59 with 6:55 remaining in the game when the defense tightened down and the buckets started to fall for the offense as they finished the game on a 29-8 run. A tough foul call with 1.7 seconds left gave Orange Coast the chance to take the lead as they hit their two free throws for the win 90-88.

Golden West will travel to Cypress on Thursday 2/17 with a 5pm tip-off.
