Rustlers Undefeated In Conference

Costa Mesa, Calif. - The Rustlers quickly took the lead, and in the end sunk the Pirates in the 3-1 game on Friday, October 5th. The Rustlers are now 7-1-2 overall and impressively undefeated (4-0) in conference play. Golden West men's soccer is currently ranked 5th in the Southern California poll of the CCCAA and No. 8 in the state.

The Pirates (6-3-1, 2-2) could not recover from the two quick goals by forward Victor Velazquez (Santa Ana, CA/Godinez HS) in the first ten minutes of the game. Despite their increased momentum, the Rustlers kept the Pirates out of the goal for the first half.

In the 50th minute, OCC was able to get a shot in the goal, but the momentum was quickly stolen back by Golden West. Brian De La Rosa (Garden Grove, CA/Santiago HS) assisted Nathan DeRosa (LA Palma, CA/Kennedy HS), who ripped it past OCC's goalkeeper, making it 3-1. In the net for the Rustlers, Antonio Flores (Paramount, CA/Paramount HS) finished the game with a total of 6 saves.

The Rustlers meet IVC at home on Tuesday, October 9th at 1:00pm.
