Rustlers Rebound To Dodge The Dons

Santa Ana, Calif. - The Rustlers narrowly defeated the Dons on Tuesday scoring the only goal of the game on a penalty kick. Golden West men's soccer remains at the top of the Orange Empire Conference with 7 wins in conference play and 10-1-2 overall.  The Rustlers have also moved up significantly in their southern California CCCSIA ranking, from No. 5 to No. 3. 

 With 72 minutes gone on the game clock, Dons goalkeeper  Jose Garcia was given a yellow card for a foul in the box, setting the Rustlers up with a penalty kick. The deciding goal came from Jamie Rios (Lake Forest, CA/Laguna Hills HS) who scored on the penalty.

Net time was shared by goalies Diego Chacon (Stanton, CA/Rancho Alamitos HS) and Antonio Flores (Paramount, CA/Paramount HS), both of whom had one save per half. 

NEXT: Golden West heads to Fullerton on Friday, Oct. 19, game time is 1pm.
