Men's Soccer Defeats LA Harbor in Penalty Shootout

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West's men's soccer team faced off against LA Harbor in the second round of the regional championships. Golden West sealed LA Harbor's fate with a penalty kick in overtime giving Golden West the 2-1 victory.

Golden West's Nathan DaRosa  found the goal first within the first five minutes of game time, the assist from Brian De La Rosa. Golden West would take two more shots on goal before half time, with one flying past LA Harbor's goalie. The goal was called back due to a foul on LA Harbor's defender. Golden West's goalkeeper Diego Chacon finished the half with two saves. 

After the half, LA Harbor came back on the field ready to earn their spot in the regional playoffs. They were able to to find the goal once, but Golden West's goalkeeper Antonio Flores kept them from scoring four more times in the half. 

When the regular game clock finished, the teams looked to overtime to determine the top seed for the regional playoffs. After a scoreless overtime, both teams headed into penalty kicks to determine their fate.  In the end, Golden West shot five for five in penalty kicks, LA Harbor went four for five, losing the game. 

The men take the field against Chaffey College, Saturday at 3pm in the 3rd Round of Southern California Regional Championships.  Winner of this game qualifies for the state tournament.
