Rustlers Close Cypress With a Tie

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West (4-5-1, 1-1-1) drew level with the visiting Cypress (2-5-3, 0-2-1) with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.

The Chargers opened up the scoring in the 5th minute with a free kick from 25 yards out. Golden West was able to draw level in the 39th minute when Ruben Orellana was able to find Noe Corona on top of the 18', who collected the pass and placed it in the low corner.Only 4 minutes later, Will Lopez found Justin Funes who was able to dribble the goalkeeper and place the ball into the empty net.

 The Rustlers continued to  turn the pressure up on the Chargers. But despite multiple opportunities to score, Golden West could not find the back of the net for a third time. In the 85th minute, Cypress made a quick counter attack putting a player through to score. Although the initial shot was saved, Cypress stuck with the play and was able to put the ball past the Golden West defense. With only 5 minutes left in the game, the Rustlers could not recover and ended the game tied. The Rustlers look to get back to their winning ways at Orange Coast College on Friday, October 11 for their 3pm kickoff.
