Rustlers Get Wrangled By Santiago

Santiago Canyon, Calif. - The Rustlers see their 5 game unbeaten streak end with a 4-1 loss at Santiago Canyon. Golden West is now 7-7-2 overall, and 4-3-2 in conference play.

The Hawks (10-3-2, 5-3-1) came out fast and the Rustlers appeared unprepared, giving up 3 goals in the first 16 minutes. Golden West woke up after the three quick Hawk goals, coming together to hold Santiago Canyon off for the remainder of the half. Down, but not out at the half, Golden West made some tactical adjustments and came out ready for the second half.

After controlling more of the play, the Rustlers were finally able to get a score when Orlando Orrellana received the ball on top of the 18. Orellana turned to shoot, forcing a save out of the Santiago goalkeeper. Although he made the save, Santiago's keeper was unable to hold on to the ball. Orlando, seeing the opportunity, crashed the ball to get a foot on it and poke the ball into the back of the net. At 3-1, the Rustlers continued to pushed to control the game.

Despite several opportunities created, the Rustlers were unable to beat the Santiago goalkeeper again. In their pursuit of another goal, the Rustlers' defense found themselves beaten again in the 90th minute when they were caught with too many men up the field.

The Rustlers look to regain their winning form this Friday, November 1st at Cypress College at 3pm.
