Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Rustlers opened up the season with a tough 2-2 draw to the visiting Warriors of El Camino.

In a back-and-forth battle, Golden West opened up the scoring with a beautifully placed Free kick by Sophomore Alex Velazquez. El Camino battled back to tie things up 1-1 before Alex Velazquez was pulled down inside the penalty area and awarded a penalty kick. Freshman Jonathan Caparelli put the ball on the spot and sent the keeper the wrong way before tucking it safely into the back of the net.Everything was looking good for the Rustlers until an El Camino forward broke loose in the box and was taken down by sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Cabrera, who received a red card for being the last man. El Camino scored to tie the game up seconds before the final whistle was blown for a 2-2 draw.

The Rustlers look to bounce back next Friday (September 5) against the visiting Southwestern College.
