Rustlers End Preseason with a Win

Huntington Beach, Calif. - The Rustlers (3-1-2) end their preseason run with a well-deserved win over the visiting El Camino College-Compton.

Golden West struck early when William Munoz got on the end of a free kick that was flicked on by Justin Funes, putting the Rustlers up 1-0. However, the visitors drew level in the 31st minute. The Rustlers were quick to respond when Nathan DaRosa was able to find Jean Cabrino open on the opposite side of the box. Jean took one touch and buried the ball in the back of the net.

Golden West went into the half up 2-1 and kept their momentum in the second half. The Rustlers had majority of the possession and opportunities in the second half, but were unable to capitalize until there was a handball in the box against El Camino. Alex Velazquez stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way as he scored to make it 3-1 in the 84th minute.

The score would remain to see the Rustlers close out their preseason with a big win against the visitors. League action begins this coming Tuesday (9/30) at 3:00pm as the Rustlers host the Santa Ana Dons.
