Men's Soccer Sweep State Champions Cerritos 4-0

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Men's soccer swept the reigning State Champions, Cerritos College in a 4-0 victory at home. The Rustlers started strong and never let the foot off of the gas throughout the game.

After an extended period of pressure, the Rustlers opened up the scoring when freshman Mark Hernandez beat his man down the line and found Anthony Morales open in the box. Morales made no mistake of the opportunity and beat the keeper to make it 1-0.

Thirteen minutes later, Adrian Montes received the ball  in the midfield and found Josh Featherston making a diagonal run through to goal. Featherston collected the ball and tucked it just past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0 just before the halftime whistle.

The Rustlers opened up the second half even stronger than the first when, just 6 minutes in, Jorge Pineda played a perfect through ball to a running Hernandez, who dribbled the goalkeeper and passed it into the open net. Featherston finished off the scoring for the night when he ran down a through ball player by Christian Packard to bring the score to 4-0 in favor of the Rustlers. The hosts maintained the pressure and saw the game out for a final score of 4-0.

The Rustlers go away on September 22 to play El Camino Compton for their last preseason game of the year.
