Rafael's 2nd Half Goal is Enough to Win Season Opener

San Diego, Calif. - The 2017 season for Golden West College (1-0) men's soccer program opened with a 1-0 victory over San Diego City College (0-1) Friday afternoon. 

The first half featured both teams shaking the preseason rust off offensively as each team managed to put one shot on goal a piece. The second half was more lively for both teams but the Rustlers were able to capitalize on one of their three shots on goal in the second half as Martin Rafael scored in the 68th minute thanks to the assist by Ronaldo Escudero. The Rustlers goalkeeper Luis Sosa saw four shots on goal on his way to the seasons first shutout victory.
