Men's Swimming Dominates Once Again

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West maintained their standard of excellence hosting a conference dual meet with Orange Coast College and Cypress College, taking first place in 10 out of 11 events.

First up, in the 400 yard Medley Relay, Daniel Roa, Loai Tashkandi, Gabriel Hernandez, and Dylan Alba swept the competition with a time of 3:32.44.  

The men dominated their individual events; with Alba touching first in the 50 Freestyle (21.81), Tashkandi finishing the 200yard Indv. Medley first (1:58.17) as well as the 200 Breaststroke (2:10.69). Swimming the 200 yard Butterfly, Roa took first with a time of 1:57.10.

Hernandez went on to win the 1000 yard Freestyle in 9:39.20, almost a minute ahead of teammates Anthony Limon (10:27.44) and Juan Lugue (10:32.37). Hernandez also took first in the 500 Freestyle, touching in 4:42.35  

In both the 100 yard Freestyle and the 200 yard Freestyle, Davit Sikharulidze finished first with times of 46.56 and 1:41.74

The Rustlers ended the meet on top with another specatular relay finish, this time in the 400 Free, with the team of Alba, Tommy Cornes, Jeremy Grden and Sikharulidze finishing in 3:12.79 for the win. 

Next, the defending State Champions will host agian, this time on March 14th at noon in a finals meet.
