Men Swimming Strong at 2014 OEC Championships

Riverside, Calif. - Men's Swimming heads into the last day of the Orange Empire Conference Swimming Championships as they look to clench their back-to-back title at Riverside City College. The Rustlers let the first finals event on Thursday slip by, but by a fraction of a second. 

Golden West, never to be out done in the pool responded by taking the top eight places in the 200 yard IM for a combined 116 points. Gabriel Hernandez lead the pack of Rustlers with a time of 1:50.19, followed by Loai Tashkandi (1:54.48) and Daniel Roa (1:55.39).

Dylan Alba finished first in the 50 yard Free, touching in 20.60.

The last event for the first day of competition was the 400 medley relay; Roa, Jeremy Grden, Hernandez and Alba finished in 3:26.90.

Friday started with the 200 medley relay, where Roa, Grden, Davit Sikharulidze and Alba beat OCC with a time of 1:32.80.

Rustlers, Hernandez (3:55.62), Roa (4:03.00) and Miles Borgos (4;19.14) swept the 400 yard IM. Sikharulidze touched first in the  200 y free (1:38.73) followed by Tashkandi in the 100 yard Brest (56.34)

The second day finished with the 800 Free Relay. Golden West took first place in 6:52.05 thanks to Hernadnez, Grden, Tashkandi and Roa.

Saturday will be the last day of the OEC Championships in Riverside, the finals meet begins at 3:00pm.
