Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West took first place in the Orange Empire Conference's 2016 swim season opener.  The men scored 669.0 points for the day, swimming away from Riverside (606.0) and literally lapping third place Saddleback College points (334.0).

Starting off, the 200 yard free relay team of Chadd Maurer, Zachary Lowenstein, Liam Paterson and Nathan Torres touched for first in 1:26.03.  

Individually, Torres finished first in the 100 yard butterfly (51.28) and Maurer took first in the 200 yard freestyle (1:44.47). In the 100 yard backstroke Conner Paterson finished in 52.77 for the win. 

The next OEC meet will be at Fullerton College on Friday, March 25th at 1:00pm.
