Huntington Beach, Calif. - As day two of the Orange Empire Conference men's swim championships came to close, the Golden West men's team took a small lead over the Riverside 577-558.
The day started with a first place finish for Riverside's 200-yard medley relay of Arnuad Magnan (back), Maxence Bouvier (breast), Lazar Raca (Fly), and Kyle Acevedo (free) at 1:32.18. Golden West foursome was a very close second at 1:32.80. Cypress took third place with a 1:35.79 finish.
Golden West bounced back with a first-place finish by Santiago Rivera in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:01.04. Riversides Farouk Zaoui finished second with a time of 4:02.64. Chadd Maurer from Golden West would take a close third with a 4:02.79.
Riverside's Lazar Raca would claim first in the 100-yard fly at 49.80 followed by Orange Coast's Donny Hadden at 50.14. Sonny Ford took third place with a 50.75 finish.
Jacob White for Riverside took the top finish in the 200-yard free at 1:42.00. Golden West's Garrett Wasserman and Blake Williamson claimed second and third at 1:43.04 and 1:43.18.
Maxence Bouvier won another first place medal, this time in the 100 yard breaststroke at 54.19. Miles Dunn and Matt Dalija wasn't too far behind for second and third place with a 55.88 and 56.74.
Aidan Lund for Golden West finished first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 50.36. Riversides Arnaud Magnan took second with a time of 51.55. Golden West's Jonathan Quintero rounded out the top three with a 52.89 time.
The final race of the day had Riverside's 800-yard relay team with top honors at 6:49.07. Golden West finished second with a 6:57.82 followed by Orange Coast in third with a 7:01.64 finish.
In the 1M diving Riverside's Aaron Garcia claimed first with 195.70 score and teammate Brendan Brown came in second with 188.50. Orange Coast's Cole Gerard claimed third with a 153.05 score.
