After throwing a person best in the Shot Put at the Southern California Championships in Riverside, Gavin Coath advanced to the CCCAA State Championships for Track and Field. Coath placed 6th in the So Cal event with lifetime best of 48'9.

At the CCCAA State Championship, Coath placed 11th with a throw of 47'5. "Gavin still has a year with us, he has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing his progress in the next year," said Coach Simpson.
