The Golden West College men's track and field team delivered several strong performances at the 2025 OEC Invitational, held on Friday, February 21, at Orange Coast College. Freshman Max Fister and John Tran led the way in multiple events, while Andrew Johnson and the field event athletes contributed valuable points for the Rustlers.
Track Events
- 100 Meters: Fister finished 5th with a time of 11.97, earning four points, while Tran placed 10th (12.28), Darren Nguyen 14th (12.70), and Abukar Abukar 21st (16.05).
- 200 Meters: Tran clocked a 25.72 to finish 18th, while Abukar completed the race in 32.92 (23rd).
- 1500 Meters: Vincent Quach placed 20th with a time of 5:08.96.
- 5000 Meters: Alejandro Lewis finished 12th with a solid time of 17:39.92.
- 400-Meter Hurdles: Fister secured 4th place with a time of 59.20, adding five points, while Nguyen placed 12th (1:09.89).
Field Events
- Pole Vault: Johnson placed 4th with a clearance of 2.77m (9' 1"), earning five points.
- Long Jump: Tran landed a 5.77m (18' 11.25") jump, placing 4th and contributing five points.
- Shot Put: Killian Nguyen threw 9.72m (31' 10.75"), finishing 15th.
- Discus: Johnson placed 19th with a mark of 29.58m (97' 0"), while Nguyen finished 20th with a throw of 26.59m (87' 3").
Golden West showed strong potential in both track and field events, with multiple top-five finishes contributing to the team's overall performance.
