Huntington Beach, Calif. – The Golden West men's volleyball team's momentum continued as the Rustlers defeated LA Pierce on Friday, February 17. The Rustlers would battle all night taking Pierce to five games: 25-13, 23-25, 25-22, 21-25, and 17-15. The win improved Golden West to 4-1 and dropped LA Pierce to 5-2.
Leading Golden West for the evening was junior Aaron Gerardi with eight kills, while hitting .447. Outside hitters Phil Lopez and Weston Carico added eight kills a piece for the Rustlers.
The Rustlers jumped on the visiting Bulls early to put the first set away 25-13, however the rest of the night, the teams traded points in the next four sets. LA Pierce evened up the match at one a piece, but Golden West answered defeating Pierce 25-22 to take a 2-1 lead going into the fourth set. Pierce wouldn't go away quietly, as they rallied to a 21-25 victory forcing a fifth and final match. End the end it was the Rustlers who squeaked away with a 17-15 victory over Pierce.
The Rustlers hit the road for the first time in two weeks for a match against El Camino.
